T.A.P.'s Bluegrass Boogie

Bluegrass Boogie with Bill Bynum

Theatre Arts Productions is doing it again. This time they have put a night together that feels like you are enjoying an act at The Grand Ole’ Opry. It is Bill Bynum and his Boogie Woogie Bluegrass.

Although a Detroit native, Bill Bynum's musical roots are deep in the South. Bill grew up listening to artists like Johnny Cash and Buck Owens on Detroit's country radio station, "The Big D", through an old AM radio

It was Detroit Rock that drove Bill's early musical career. But in 1999, Bill heard "Yours Forever Blue" by Steve Earle and The Del McCoury on Public Radio.  At that moment his passion developed as he found himself with a non-stop desire to hear and play those songs. From that moment on, Bill started writing and playing live whenever and wherever he could.

We all get a chance to hear Michigan's Bill Bynum show off his tasty bluegrass/country/rock-flavored songs, (Bluegrass Boogie).
"His music is kind of a Southern roots-based acoustic music. Although he plays a lot of traditional and contemporary covers, don't think of Bynum as a typical cover act. I love writing and have had some success at writing, but I can't just think of only doing my own songs when there are so many other great songs out there, too.

Bill has written a number of songs and has collaborated with bluegrass industry legend, Pete Goble. Goble is an International Bluegrass Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award Winner who has written songs recorded by Alison Kraus, Hot Rize, Blue Highway and Mountain Heart among many others. Bill was 1st Place Winner in the 2004 Metro Detroit Songwriting Showcase with his song "Lovin' You" along with the 2006 Open Mic Artist of the year.

He comes with a strong recommendation from bluegrass legend Pete Goble, who once said of Bynum "I think the world about him ... dependable ... and true blue and on time.'' He's a great player, he's got that great blues voice, that bluegrass moaning voice. He is tremendous and now you can hear and book him by contacting us at Theatre Arts Productions.
